but mine is healthy af and goes on 70km bike rides for fun on the weekend and there is absolutely no reason to believe he would die any time soon except if there were a tragic accident so i just don't understand the sentiment when it comes to him

It's like that. Maybe he'll live 10 more years but that's imo .. I don't know. Unlikely? I don't even know if we are lucky if he lives that long, as long as he doesn't suffer it's good.
