i used to not like to refer myself as a woman and preferred to say girl
but then i read and heard more and more about how gendered language can be used to downgrade women, even if it's unconsciously. you probably wouldn't take someone refereed to as a girl as seriously as someone refereed to as a man. I would say that internalized sexism might be the reason for the need to refer to yourself as a girl when you're in fact a woman (or/and probably the fear of growing up). but why do we fear being women? why do we think that is bad? why is it a bad thing to be an adult woman? i think it's something to reflect on at least.

it normalized to refer to women as girls, but u don't refer to men as boys UNLESS it's used to attack/invalidate them or how the're acting and so on.

i’m gonna be a semi-woman in december then. am moving out of home and will be paying for everything myself, but my mental health makes me dependent on my parents still.

No no no, here I disagree simply because of the aspect of dialects. Østnorsk? Kvinne. Trøndersk?? well.... kvinna sounds very weird and keep in mind that everything that can be classified as feminine is always conjugated in the feminine pattern, so it is always dama and not damen, kvinna sounds very weird, dama is better for it, therefore I disagree.

calling myself kvinne just feels wrong idk. i asked my mom and she looked at me with a face similar to disgust because she agreed it was weird. woman feels ok, i can use that to describe myself, but kvinne? no

You have things like "jeg er en kvinne" but it's "den dama over der" (i am a woman and that lady over there)
