i see this issue like pollution where the majority of it is caused by corporations n stuff but Normal ppl r still blamed for it even tho what's on my mind is survival not tryna fix stuff caused by ppl who don't care if ppl starve or if they cause harm to earth as long as they get $$$
i waste as lil as possible so 🤷♀️ not my fault
even if we didn't waste so much it wouldn't b going to ppl who need it cuz they don't have the money for it & that's all that matters 🙈
That's fine. There's however one statistic that I think is relevant to counter the argument of only corporate responsibility when it comes to food waste. With how much food we waste in our homes, there's actually a big difference the everyday consumer
can do.
In the EU, households alone are responsible for ~53% of total food waste [2]
Even if it doesn't get directly redistributed to the extremely poor, food waste is an important contributor to climate change. It should, overall, reduce how much more food we need to produce to cover the world's rising population.
I think food waste, like many other issues, doesn't rely on the one issue acting and being fixed alone. There is a number of factors that impact it and can help improve it. I think many solutions have to be local, and others will be international cooperations.
oh ok i didn't actually know that thanks! i don't have a good frame of reference for this since i hate wasting food, i just assumed most of it was by restaurants and grocery stores
