I had to have my mom temporarily involuntarily committed back in March
it's a lot to deal with and its a lot when someones in full blown psychosis, its frustrating and discouraging.
I'm rly sorry you're going thru this, it's a lot of emotional labor.
Did you have to push to get her committed?
I was supposed to hear from a case worker two weeks ago and heard nothing, was nice to know she does have a case being filed
Shes not an immediate threat but she cant function... shes scared to drive and check the mail and shes underweight, I'm hoping I can get staff to take her to appointments for now
Hope your mom is doing alright, it really is a lot of labor
it was easy because she made comments of suicide, even tho it was obvious to us she didn't mean it, the court took it seriously - I hate that we had to play it that way, but she was delusional and needed help, she spent $17,000 on credit cards and hadn't slept or eaten or bathed. They think it was a reaction to her chemo meds combined with antidepressants but once they got her on antipsychotics and "kinda stable" they have to send her home if shes table, but because she was committed by the court she had to either do a competency hearing or agree to 7 more days inpatient and she chose the second. She was only there about 10 or 12 days
