you may have empathy in different ways, i cant discredit that as i dont know enough, but people are multi faceted and have a lot going on. so in that way, to reduce people to books is lacking some understanding

LOL but the thing is, when i talk to people who aren't like-minded, i still keep the same type of mind-set
you can compare it to mental illness. you can tell a psychopath what feelings are and how they work but they won't be able to experience those feelings like empathy in the same way we non-psychopaths do because they are just wired that way

this is obviously a very simple way to describe it but you get my point
People are born psychopaths. People are not born racist. People can't become non-psychopaths. People can become not racist. You just don't want to.
i have tried to become more open-minded and less old-fashioned but it's impossible. i think my brain is just wired this way (i've had this mind-set for as long as i remember). it's not like i grew up in a racist household or anything like that. it just happened
being racist is not something your brain is wired to be like
it is PURELY how you were brought up, with your family or the people you were with.
and unless you aren't a fucking 50+ yrs old neckbeard you can change that

do you agree with me that it's possible to put human-beings into categories? some people are good, some are bad. some are tall, some are short. these categories can be put into "chapters" (to follow my book-example). some chapters you enjoy reading more than others.

this isn't so say that human-beings are like books (non-sentient) but these books tell a story. i understand the stories, i have read lots of them, it's just that some stories make me go "meh". it's not reducing people to books, i'm only trying to paint a picture here

And the meh part of those stories is the way they look? Nice, good, very regular.

yes, but within those categories people are very different. nobody is defined by one single category. to say that you dislike everyone of one category of a physical appearance or more minor personality traits is lacking in understanding of their complexity and lacking empathy towards them as a person being judged purely for the colour of their skin, or their height, or whatever else.

that's not true in my case. i didn't grow up in a racist household.

i do not believe race is comparable to height for example. other than the obvious that you can't help it. nobody chooses their race, height

They clearly have no intention of taking your advice or anything you tell them seriously, this has been going on for 6 pages now, they've made it clear that they're not gonna try to not be racist in the future no matter what

i dont think you explained why you dont think they're comparable, or i misunderstood your following points because they seem to imply that they are comparable in that they arent selectable
