she/they

Why? because I used to go by only they/them (Hen/Det in swedish) for many years. And even though I've warmed up to the idea of she/her pronous again I have absolutely nothing against people using gender neutral languages when speaking about me.

I also think it's important to speak as gender neutral as possible when talking about people who's pronouns you don't know, and I'd like to think that normalizing they/them pronouns might help a little with that.

i dont think im super focused on pronouns. i guess i wouldnt like it too much if someone called me he/him, but i wouldnt react much if someone called me they/them.

i do go by she/her myself. no reason besides im a cis female who never had any identity-questions.

Ok this question is gonna sound so dumb but did u ever feel weird when ppl called u “it” (aka det) instead of “hen”? Like isnt it kinda dehumanizing to refer to someone as “it”? Like it seems lowkey rude to me if someone chooses it instead of hen when given the option idk

i also this this is important. i was actually shocked when my old uni professor used the word "hen" in a lecture. i was so impressed how he kept himself up to date with stuff like that.

No no, not a dumb question at all! and to be honest it rarely happend as far as I know of? Usually people used hen, or den if they for some reason was super against the idea of using hen *cough* my dad *cough*.

But those few times I can recall of being preferred to as ''Det'' I didn't mind. I do get your point though of it coming across as rude or dehumanizing! To be honest I did prefer hen over den/det, but since I had people in my surrounding who absolutely refused to use hen I rather settled for den/det than she/her.

Ugh i kinda suspected that was the case. Its so wild to me that a lot of ppl are sooo against a neutral pronoun that theyd rather refer to someone as basically an object. I never understood why there was such an outrage and heated debate around the word hen a couple years ago like it still baffles me that a bunch of adults were throwing tantrums over A WORD like wtf. its a super convenient word to have too even outside of trans related stuff, like having an actual established term to use in writing where gender is not specified instead of having to write out “he or her” or “she/him” over and over.

She/her because I identify myself as female lol

fun fact: the pronunciation of binary pronouns sounds the same in chinese. They only make a distinction in the writing, which used to be gender neutral. It got changed in the early 20th century because of western influence
do you know if that is the case across all chinese languages?  certainly interesting.

i find it interesting that in some languages, every thing is gender neutral, but then in some languages everything seems gendered. i guess  english is kinda in the middle

in welsh, there is only one word for boyfriend/girlfriend - cariad

in norwegian its kjæreste : P
which in a way can be translated to "dearest" cause the word can also be used as an adjective when saying like "*insert whatever* is the dearest thing i have"

I'm not sure what is generally considered to be languages and what are dialects, but there are "chinese" "languages" that are pretty much not mutually intelligible for speakers so .. eh by that definition there should be a few
