So linguistics makes more sense because it's .. you don't have to commit to a language. (I say while having an 800+ day streak in Duolingo in French)

Since you obviously have the experience, would you say it's actually possible to learn a language just by using Duolingo?

That's hard to kind of decide? I think I can form sentences in French and understand a surprising amount considering that I'm basically self-thought on it but you sort of need other sources of the language as well. The best way to learn a language is exposure, taking a 5 min lesson in Duolingo every day is not enough. I've changed the language of my phone as well as my facebook (which changes the language everywhere for the record) so I've gotten a bit more exposure than just using duolingo, it's certainly a helpful aid in the process tho

Yeah, that makes sense. I'm kind of just wondering if it would be worth starting on something if it won't actually be possible for me to learn it. Might be better to focus on one of the languages I supposedly know and use Duolingo to get better at that instead.

10th grade: written math and oral norwegian about kjærleik og kjærleiks roller ellns. Totally brought for my fave dystopia at that time  and the pregnant barhelp Karen, and slew it. 
vg1: no one got one.
vg2: english written
vg3: oral HISTORY about some sort of trade, I think. I did so bad.
