I'm unsure what I think about this, at some level I agree. But not entirely. I think it is too easy for native-speakers to dismiss the observations of non-native speakers, regardless of their level in the language. Non-native speakers are capable of offering some new shit into a language and yeah.. hm.

typically dont have the same cultural understanding as a native speaker does.
Okay, I can agree with that. Especially as there are ESL speakers who come from cultural backgrounds that are undeniable rather similar to at least some of the English-speaking cultures.
