Poll: will you take the covid vaccine?
covid-19 vaccine
Account deleted

More than half of the population is supposed to be vaccinated in order to achieve alleged herd immunity, so they say. We have to face that we are dealing with a new technique of vaccine that has never been approved to date and for which no data on long-term side effects are available. All other vaccines meet this requirement and take years to develop and get approved. And even then people still die, get sick from the consequences of the vaccination. What would it look like with this vaccine? I don't want to imagine that and I think it's deeply irresponsible. Anyone who wants to be vaccinated is welcome to do so. Those who do not want to be vaccinated can do so. But stop making it a duty and portraying yourself as a being of solidarity.

And since when do you have to vaccinate everyone for a flu? Why if it has been shown to be harmless to the great majority (Corona, 99% survival rate)? Isn't it enough just to "protect" the vulnerable groups with vaccination? What is happening here right now?

yeah, because there are no long term side effects?
It hasn't been tested long enough for people to actually be able to trust in it enough. 5 years is the bare minimum and this has been developed for like 11 months? Oh, hell no.
there has been so much more funding on this vaccine that the testing has been able to be made fast
Money can't test time.

That's not how all vaccines work, right? Some of them actually prevent you from spreading it to others, hence the term herd immunity.
Don't take this as absolute fact, but it might have always been a process. A lot of current vaccines have been around for years so we've had a lot of time to develop herd immunity and eradicate some diseases such as polio.
Oh yeah, that's a good point. I don't have any knowledge about how vaccines work, so I tried googling to see whether you can still spread disease after being vaccinated, but most of the search results were about the coronavirus vaccine, which is not what I was trying to find...
The type of vaccines we're used to are dead or weakened viruses so our immune system learns how to fight them. That's why I think it's safe to assume it took at least some time to develop herd immunity.
The difference in the Pfizer vaccine is that it uses mRNA and not the actual virus.

You've made good points as well, we're in a time where testing can be a lot quicker.
That'd put more people at ease if it wasn't a new concept to vaccination. :/

It's not like we're anti-vaxxers who don't believe in vaccines. Different people have different fears and the online magazines aren't helping with their hurried fake news. There are a lot of questions and just too much answers to put people's minds at ease.

ahh i know, fake news should be banned fr, honestly ive seen too many disturbing ones that made me also question this vaccine x_x
Yeah so just imagine the elderly etc. people who trust blindly in everything they read. It's a world of chaos out there, vaccine or not. A couple of months back it was about if you wore a mask or not, now it's about if you're getting the vaccine or not.

That's the sad thing. All these fake news outlets that will put anything out for clicks is awful for the older generations.
In a way I'm very glad both of my grandmas and one of my grandpas aren't here for the shithole 2020 has become. I can't imagine how they'd handle it...
