there usually is no direct disadvantage, but this is not about that. we have already seen that data farming / selling of data can be used to launch targeted propaganda toward certain groups of people, to influence voter polls etc. or selling your data to predict voter polls (cambridge analytica). on top of that, data is a valuable resource that allows companies to predict and exploit your interests, eg. drive up prices for certain places / groups of people, make predictions on how many poor people are in a region, what political side you take etc.i'm not trying to play dumb but what direct harm is collecting my information doing to me? like..... what are the directĀ disadvantages šĀ
