Don't go to Görlitzer park or to the surrounding area. I felt really unsafe there and got some guys following me. When they gave up, some new ones. Then I waited at the u bahn place and some people were clearly on drugs and there was some dude shouting loudly and trying to intimidate (?) random people

typical german metropole
woke up to a homeless women from around here screaming her lungs out because she couldn't get her ponytail open. she was clearly under the influence of something too
I have a feeling scenes like these are kinda normal in Germany? I got used to them pretty quickly when I moved here
I guess so? But having a bunch of men following you and telling them to leave you alone and no one helping you was pretty scary for me

I can still hear the train thingy say "mollstraße otto-braun-straße" and it's the only thing I can say in german LMAOO 2 streets

i have been to berlin 5-6 times and theres a lot to see tbh. but i would suggest one day just start walking without knowing where to and you most likely will find something precious on your way that you wouldnt have discovered otherwise. when i look back my favorite days in berlin was when i did exactly that

masilein send me hereee

i really like the botanischer garten (botanic garden) in berlin-steglitz
perfect for hella beautiful pictures and strolls

if you're interested in history the ddr museum is awesome!!

one thing that comes to my mind is the teufelsberg, many german films have been filmed there!!

i've only been to berlin once so sadly i can only recommend the touristy places
but just take a look at the berlin wall (east side gallery) i just really loved it, v inspiring

Still, I felt the most unsafe I've felt in a long time in some place in that park/area. There are creeps all around the world but that area was something else. Maybe I just got unlucky, I don't know. But I would definitely recommend people to stay away from there.

Methic has quite a lengthy post, I'll translate it here:

If you've never been to Berlin before, touristy spots are the best place to start. Brandenburger Tor, Rote Rathuas, Fernsehturn, East Side Gallery or molecule men. But for these things it usually is enough to just have seen them once.
Bergmanstraße has a great flair because of its restaurants and cafés. Plus, it's close to Kreuzberg, where you have an amazing view!
Close to Gesundbrunnen, you have Flakturm Humboldthain
Teufelsberg (never been there personally, but want to see it), there sometimes are galleries there with changing exhibition
Shopping ideas: Garage (close to Nollendorfplatz), Paul's Boutique, Jifa (Schönhäuser Allee and a bit more expensive), Humana (Frankfurter Tor), Coexist (Grünberger Straße, expensive but close to what Dollskill sells)
No real hints or tips for bars
on sundays, there is the Raw Fleamarket

if you're alone (Masi comment: probably doesn't matter what your gender, but more important for feminine looks), don't frequent big spaces at night (like parcs or plazas) and if someone wants to talk to you, don't react/go away. Always be careful and know the number of the police, people following you around / harassing you can be a common occurence

(Comment by Masi: the few hints that followed are all closed down because of Corona for the time being and probably won't reopen until you visit by the looks of how the numbers have been climbing the last weeks)

Another idea:
The garden and castle of Schloss Charlottenburg

as soon as someone asks me what to visit when in berlin my mind goes blank lol
I'm trying to remember what I showed my friend last summer and where I usually go
what kind of things do you like to do (like shopping, bars, whatever) or do you have any specific hobbies or interests?
cause I kinda wanna give you some more insider tipps apart from all that touristy stuff since it really doesn't do the city justice
places like alexanderplatz are so sad and shouldn't be representative of berlin in the first place

we both like art, cute coffee shops, fun places to drink beer, we do like shopping but not necessarily big brands. we love parks.

also is it allowed to smoke weed there? if so, where can i get it lol

as for parks, I think tempelhofer feld is pretty nice, it's the third and now closed airport of the city and is open to public (you can skate, bike, run etc on the landing strips or just chill on the gras)
viktoria park is really beautiful too with a little hill and a waterfall
or teufelsberg/drachenberg which offers an amazing view over berlin and a nice sunset
if you like thrifting, humana is always a good choice (has multiple stores) or garage (nollendorfplatz)

I'm more familiar with the western part of the city regarding coffee shops so I'd recommend just walking around the central area of schöneberg (like around the u-bahn stations eisenacher straße or nollendorfplatz) but bergmannkiez or kollwitzkiez are popular and """hip""" too

well weed is technically illegal but people aren't really that strict about it
as far as I remember you're allowed to carry 15 grams without the police getting all up in your shit (and they usually don't care that much anyway as long as you're not selling or doing stupid things)
can't really help you with where to get it (it's always my friend's job lol) but doooooon't buy anything from the pleople at görlitzer park or the surrounding u-bahn stations I really don't want to know what's in their stuff lol

and be aware that we have a lot of crazy people (as all cities have I guess) and you will definitely hear a lot of shouting especially when the sun is starting to come down
just maybe try to avoid the bezirke marzahn, neukölln and wedding
not saying that these are bad places but they can be a bit unsafe at night especially if you don't know the area

as for food the only ones I can think of right now are mmaah (korean bbq) or chay village (vietnamese)

bars maybe schwarzes café, hannibal, wirtschaftswunder or lerchen&eulen
or if you just want to chill outside and drink beer you can go to any spätkauf (little shops at almost every corner which are usually also open at night) and sit on the benches outside of the shop
