the way i completely forgot to give numerical ratings (numbers are overrated anyways and they don't accurately reflect a work, i will die on this hill)
saaaaammeee!
I still do it on stuff just to give me a ballpark for future reference but they're bs xD

I can give one of my all-time favourite films a 3 star cause I know it's shit but it's my shit
3 star is like my default for everything honestly xD 3 can be anything from "neutral" to "I hated it but I can see why other's like it" to "I would die for this film"
damn haha, i never give ratings because my opinion on a show changes drastically over time (also they're not accurate measurements anyways) my fav films/series are not my fav because they're technically the best, it's because they mean a lot to me personally so i def understand you. i put stuff as favorite when they've had a major impact on my development.
I definitely feel that. I also get in denial sometimes, though, that my opinions on an old favourite have changed cxD
saaame! Like 10 Things I Hate About You, Easy A etc. are my favourite films of all time but I always get nervous saying that to film snobs cause they say shite like "Shutter Island" or "Schindler's List" (not to say these are bad films, I've never seen them)
That's exactly how I am too. Orr, comfort films. Like film, yes is an art form to me but I enjoy film most because it's comforted me during difficult times when I needed a friend or something to take my mind off of how much things can suck sometimes and that means more to me than whether or not it's a masterpiece or "well that's a children's film".

aaand screenplay is everything to me. A film can look pretty as shite but if I hate the story/dialogue/characters then I'm boooored.

film snobs are the actual worst. they completely forget that the main point of films is to entertain. yes it can be used to tell a good story that is groundbreaking and philosophical but if it doesn't entertain, it's not gonna stick.

also, for me characters are the most important, if i am bored by them then it's unlikely that i will enjoy the story. but visuals are important for me too, i just really like good aesthetic.

So true! YES! That's why I hate most art film cause you end up with something that's weird af and it's just "well you didn't get it" no. no I didn't get why their was a fucking chipmunk girl and an alien baby! I get the reasoning when explained to me, but that doesn't mean I want to! (Eraserhead has made me hate all David Lynch works... and I'm okay with that).
exactly! it's why it annoys me that screenwriters are just unknown and barely paid - without them, there's no damned film in the first place!

I feel you. Like, in 10 Things I Hate About You, I love pretty much all of the characters in it and with Easy A, Olive is who I aspire to be like xD.
Oh true! I definitely love visuals but it's more of a compliment to good plot etc. Like, the combination of the two is what makes a masterpiece!

westworld. i really liked the first and second season! 9/10
but the third season kind of fell off for me. i am not a fan of the western aesthetic so i was really looking forward to the robots being in the real world. but i felt the storytelling to be a bit chaotic and i felt that aside from the amazing visuals, they had a bit too much on their plate. i think s3 would've benefited from a more concise storyline.

i do really enjoy the metaphor that dolores is adam, as she is the one that all other robots were made from. the virus being the forbidden fruit that would give the robots their consciousness, thus being able to see the 'reality' (distinguish good from evil). eventually dolores would be the one to forgive mankind, giving her a Godlike role, instead of destroying mankind, she allowed them to live despite their sins.

oh, do watch it, it is amazing
I never really got into zombies, but this one is really well made and zombies truly aren't the focus as like in twd or others

for westworld, I kinda stopped after getting to season 2, because I needed some time away from the cruelty of humanity (but no worries, I don't feel spoiled!). I really like the concept of the sjow though, because it truly isthe most intriguing concept of sci-fi
omg im sorry i assumed you had watched everything LOL. but yeah s1 is def the best!

no worries :d I mean, I was kinda mad when my mom basically spoiled me the whole buffy plot in three sentences when I was in season one, but I don't really care for spoilers
I got my dad to watch it too, because he's a huge sci-fi fan and he was like "so I'm in season 3 and it's dripping slow like honey, but not in a good way"
