i feel educated enough, thanks but no thanks
since you brought up the school shootings what do you think about arming teachers? armed teachers could prevent school shootings.
i'd rather fight in a gun vs gun fight
then a gun vs no gun if i'm the person without a gun
A. You assume they can actually hit their target. Professional police officers hit their intended targets
less than 20 percent of the time in training situations of an active shooter.
B. This assumes shooters can be deterred, when shootings happen even with school resource officers in the building.
C. The gun actually needs to be in a safe place - now there's a gun in the classroom, which promotes easier access that would otherwise no exist. And yet remain accessible for such an emergency situation.
D. The disproportionate harm pf minority students, which already occurs with school resource officers.
E. Would a teacher be willing to shoot their own student, not be irrational themselves (teaching is stressful as fuck), receive therapy for potential PTSD? etc.
F. Who is gonna pay for weapons/gear/training? How will it be funded? Teachers already don't make much and are known to pay for their own supplies. Our education is already shoddy compared to other 1st world nations as well, are we going to siphon away even more of our education money for this?
A. i'd rather have a less than 100% chance of preventing a school shooter than a complete 0
