haha no clue on how to explain it in english, can only do it in my native language since the english language doesn’t have the words for it
but what is it that u do if I may ask? like blogging or making videos or ??
well basically now we’re going through places i could think of being at while having my disability that make me only function at 25%, in other words i get paid to have these consultations and help, but what I’m getting paid for is basically for me having autism and not being able to function at 100%. meaning I’ll never be able to work like a normal person. my goal is to have a steady activity that i can go to, if that would be called job or not I’m not sure
oh no I understand what you mean now, like you get money from the gov because you can't work atm yeah? I guess the easiest universal term for it is disability payment or something similar idk. good luck w that, I've felt for yearsss like want something to focus on day to day and get fulfilment from so I totally understand the feeling!

to elaborate, the issue is that i have a name with a consonant combination which in reality doesn't occur in Norwegian and as i am aware of that there's a possibility i attempt to insert something, but because it isn't normal for two identical consonants to occur after each other, it's possible i insert a glottal stop to try to accommodate if that makes sense
oh alright that's a lot less ominous.  I suppose that makes sense. Maybe it differs depending on how u articulate it, if it's possible to articulate it more clearly i suppose. Then you'd just have like an optional glottal stop lmao

do a study where u have a random selection of people pronounce your name and see how many people use it
That would be a bit elaborate for a task that's like "transcribe your first and last name" lmao  I guess, if the glottal stop can be written as superscript it's probably more accurate, as some kind of secondary feature added to the preceding vowel in preparation of the upcoming velar plosive? Does that make any sense
ngl i got like a D in phonetics and im more interested in the social aspects of linguistics so you've lost me a bit

Are there any languages out there with glottal stops as like a prominent linguistic feature and that also has an alphabet and thus a way to transcribe it already? how would they do it??

or couldn't u just slap a ʔ in there???

Also i feel like there are a bunch of phonetics you wouldn't always write out when transcribing smth anyways, like idk you don't usually differentiate between dark vs light l, right? or pitch

oof don't start me on l's i talk a dialect that's like welcome to all the weird ones

I got a B on the lowest level and a C on the higher level so .. err.. there's room for improvement certainly.

Good question.. I could also ask my friend from linguistics if it makes any sense to add a glottal stop there.
My Austrian professor claimed there was a possibility some Norwegian dialects use glottal stop similar to German, but tbh Norwegian isn't really that extremely researched yet.. They don't look at all dialects, not even all the major ones.

I always bring out the Ls during my family's annual "how is milk pronounced" debates. It makes me sounds smarter than the others it's very nice.

tbf I also haven't done much of it since my courses shifted over to translation science post year one lol

And i mean is it an exam question or something? Otherwise it also sounds like an interesting discussion point, or something to ask a prof or smth about and maybe get a cool answer or smth.

yeah i guess it makes sense as a dialectal future in a lot of languages. It's a shame when there just straight up isn't research on smth... But I guess that's just the case  with less spoken languages
