no, pls no T T

Like you solve it this way:

   8                    8                8
_____     =>   _____  =>    ____  =>   1
2(2+2)             2(4)             8

Anything else would just hurt my fragile heart ;-;

actually, that would be

8/[2(2+2)]

but the one we have actually is

     8
  ____     *  (2+2)

     2

or

     8             (2+2)
  ____     *   ______

     2                1

Ohhh, thought ( ÷ ) meant the same as ( / ) :)

it does
but only the 2 is divided by
you can't ignore the * (2+2) just because it comes without the symbol directly behind the 2
for it to be the way you put it, you need to put the whole 2 * (2 + 2 ) inside brackets
if not, you only divide by 2

Well then I learned something new today. Thank u! :)
It just feels a lil bit weird to me that it isn't 8÷(2(2+2)) since we have learned it that way in school (':

well, you start with the brackets, so you basically have 8 / 2 * 4
and you wouldn't go ahead and say that that is the same as 8 / ( 2 * 4 )
it confuses people more when the brackets are there, it's quite normal
and you probably never learned to add brackets anywhere in school, it just feels like stuff with brackets belongs together even though it doesn't
