Turn him into a wildlife center for rehabilitation.
A wild animal will never become a fully domesticated animal.

I don't know where you're from, but im certain that there's some sort of center that'll take him in.

Do not touch him too much, since he/she may carry disease, which can be dangerous if you already have a pet in the household.  Seek a vet (exotic vets, they know more about rodents rather than a normal vet)

I worked at an animal shelter some years ago, where we got squirrels, random wild birds in etc. all the time.
thanks so much for your informations, they are really precious, as already said up there there arent any vets here that can help me, anyway i live in a little village in italy... there arent any animal center and the vets i contacted yesterday told me that they cant help me because they arnt equipped to.. so i have to do it all alone.. hope to do my best..
Is it possible that you can return it where you found it? The mother might still be looking for it. I get that you might fear they won't, but it's just as bad to remove it.
im sorry for being a "downer" about this, but I've seen too many cases of feral animals being held as pets and it usually never goes well. The animal gets very stressed being held captive in a cage, when it is wild.

Please, NEVER take a wild animal, especially they're babies home. The mother will return. Only interfere if it has visible damages or is sick.

this
also, this doesn't look like a baby squirrel anymore, it's probably young adult or even already fully grown

first of all, nature is cruel and if it's sick and would die in nature, then it's for the best
you never know what exactly it has and you are not equiped to help it
second of all, most animals don't lose that instinct

doesn't mean it's going to die and even if, though life
there's animals and people dying of sickness every minute, it's how life is
you can't safe all and everyone
sometimes it's not meant to live forever (which is especially cruel considering how I said that people die, but look at it from another angle: some people are so sick, dying is nicer than forcing them to keep living, just because you can't spare the thought of them being gone)

As Masilein stated, it's natures way. The flies definitely may indicate it being ill, hence why it's even worse that you actually took it home. It's a big possibility that it has disease.
I know you don't want it to die, but if you putting your and even friends and family health on the risk? The squirrel should be released.

Most squirrels will drink if they haven't eaten in a long time. Looking at the cage picture, it seems to be able to climb.
It'll survive fine, please just do not keep it. It's cruel to rob it from its' wild life and freedom that it has been used to.

I  mean, if you were used to living in the free, how would you feel about ending up in a cage? Wild animals in caged are a ticking timebomb. At some point they'll reach a point where they can go a bit nuts, to put i mildly.

I've been hissed at, jumped and attacked by feral cats. Cats that are too wild to be domesticated or "tamed" Just like that squirrel, it cannot be a pet.
I know you only intend the best, but sometimes - even though it might be difficult - keeping them aren't the best for them.
