Tbh I don't think they should be cencored but people should be reminded of that the songs are a product of their time and instead of cencoring them it should be an opportunity to make new christmas songs if people aren't comfortable with using the old ones

there's similiar songs still being produced like this year, so it's not just a product of their time, it's a still present issue and people just prefer to ignore what's wrong with today's world and focus on the fuck ups of the past. sure, they are important too, but maybe also call out what's going wrong today instead of just being like "mistakes were made, we need to be better, but before we do, let's make the same mistake again, because we aren't the future yet, but still in the now"
I still don't think you should cencor songs (or other media) as it will be proof of a certain way of thought or life style which historians later on can analyse and come to some conclusion of what our society might have looked like or worked like! Therefore cencorship is the number one enemy to the historian!

I can agree on the fact that it's important having a focus on the issues today instead of looking to the past and deciding to alter those instead of making new ones which adresses issues in the current society :)

I personally don't see the point in even playing songs that is censored? i don't know if it just me. If u have a reason not to play the song as it is, why play it?
On a serious note here, it's nothing new that songs get censored. Even recent songs get censored. Some countries are more prominent doing so than others, in the Western world the most active on it is arguably the US as they are huge fans of censoring content they don't like, such as swear words, reference to some types of violence and narcotics. If anything, it's surprising that the song was able to run without censorship for a while because it's just very out of character of some countries. Norway and Sweden (possibly Denmark as well).. if they start censoring it it's going to be very weird considering how a very eh song by Frank Zappa to this day is played on the radio despite that some people might get offended by the lyrics.

yeah, I agree with you
I just added a second argument to it, I didn't try to contradict anything of what you said, don't even think I did?
(also, I said that the past is important, but the present too, we can't just look at the past and we can't just look at the present, we need to combine it)

no problem
I seem to have something in the way of phrasing things that people often feel like I am disagreeing with them (funnily enough even when I say I agree) :d
still need to figure out what it is that makes that impression

i dont see this anti-swear word energy when megan thee stallion had to censor the word "booty" on the amas... the premises for this discussion are so all over the place!

i didn't even know christmas songs had swear words/slurs ?

im not a fan of censoring swear words like fuck or something in music, bc it ruins the flow and honestly who listens to the lyrics? also even without the explicit words some songs are dirty af, but that's not a problem bc they didn't say fuck -____-

i understand everything on radio has to be censored bc laws, but it's still stupid to me

can anyone tell me a reason why removing certain words from christmas songs would be bad though? like who is it hurting... what's the problem. "waaaah PC bullshit bad" isn't an argument unless you have an actual reason behind it
