Yeah, it's protection, most commonly from oneself.

I think someones 'protection' is pushing it. Some can be more of a punishment.

I can see why but I don't think I agree with it.

It is exploited quite a bit, especially with older people and addicts, there should definitely be stricter rules to protect those groups.

It's a very gray area though, would be hard and law makers don't like working hard.

most people don't Actually want to die they just want the pain to end. suicidal thoughts are something that you usually fight against and try to ignore/not act upon until you're so sick you lose the ability to do that. and most ppl who have suicidal thoughts have some sort of insight into their illness, they might know that they don't rlly want to die but that if their illness takes over they might end up doing so. mental illnesses are not something u can just control by will
