As an artist myself, I prefer payment upfront as I don't feel comfortable starting a project before getting paid in fear that I'll spend multiple hours, and get scammed in the end.

I fully understand feeling unsure, especially now after the scams - but it can go both ways, the customer can be the scammer, and the artist can be the scammer. Communication is the most important part of a commission.

no, i think buyer should send something like advance (half of price) before receiving the artwork, bc scam works both way :-DD artist can be scammed too
