it's definitely not a rule, but i think it's partly due to how people process & internalize information in general.
a lot of the same basic principles can be applied to different lessons; if you already have a system for problem solving & breaking down new information, it's easier to apply your prior understanding to new things.
i tend to recognize patterns to make sense of things, and find that i can learn nearly anything when i approach it with those patterns in mind. in my experience, when you approach every new idea like it's a foreign concept to you, it becomes much harder to understand & explain. (i hope this made sense ahahaha)
