yeah she lived with a psychosocially abusive parent and her only time away from home was school and work, if she couldn't drive, she couldn't get out
I never judged her but who knows how much damage the untreated seizures did

I can't drive manual transmission anymore because of my leg
I still have occassionally numb toes and get muscle spasms in my leg - trying to hold down the clutch ot let it lose softly if you can't really feel it or your leg starts spasming is in my eyes just super dangerous
my doctor never told me I couldn't drive it anymore and I still have the license for it (if you take the exam only for automatic transmission, it will be stated in your license and you're not allowed to buy or drive a car with manual transmission), but I just feel like it would be stupid to risk my life and that of others
(also, yeah, it's only in my left leg, so I can drive automatic transmission without issues, even if I get leg spasms, they're never so bad that it shakes the whole lower body, usually just makes me lift or push down the leg a bit which you obviously can't do with the clutch)


and after writing this whole short: I don't drive a car most of the time, haven't sat in one for over a year now, since I'm currently living in a big city and have excellent public transportation that I don't even need because everything is in walking distance and since it's still Corona times, I wouldn't know where to go anyways
