I have so many different apps for my japanese, but I haven't used them in a while
I sometimes do kanji practise but that's about it ahah

Duolingo I don't use, it sucks big time. At least if you want to know grammar. It's alright to practise some things, but I like knowing grammar and the logic behind.
it's not good as your only teacher, but it's great for practising and automatising the grammar and spelling and so on :3
For me it doesn't do much, or maybe it's just the push notifications that keep getting on my nerves. Nontheless I don't use it anymore ahha
But yes it is great for that, and for tourism use of languages as well. But if you want to proper learn a language it's not optimal alone - In other words, yes I agree with you

i studied french for some time aswell but failed a lot of my uni classes in it and haven't really... looked back since lmfao
idk i've only learnt french through duolingo but i think it has gotten surprisingly well given that.. duolingo isn't the best unless you really commit. i haven't done any of the regular lessons in french for a while because they get so long and i cannot be arsed so i do the stories instead which increases the comprehension sooooooooooo much faster
hmm yeah the best thing with studying french on duolingo was that the courses and class overall was more advanced... russian is lacking in comparison tbh. so nice that it has actually helped u improve!! duolingo has mostly been a way for me to not forget what i already know haha
i am able to read news in french to some degree so that's pretty acceptable considering how i have learnt it
but yea... other courses need improvement
