we choose a lucia here in finland annually as well (yea we're not part of scandinavia), and the swedish-speaking folks celebrate midsommar. finns have their own variation but it's literally just making this huge fire, drinking and grilling. i've been to a couple of midsommarfester but my dad (who is swedish) is not exactly close with his familytree so i miss out on the swedish culture a lot :-(
