the reality of a situation is never really as bad as you make it up in your head. even if the house were no longer livable, which it obviously is, you would still find a way to get on with your life. it's just a bump in the road, really. that's what happens. i'm sorry to hear you're not sleeping though. is there a way you can get your hands on a couple ambien or something, just for the time being? especially because now it might just become harder to sleep now that you've been awake so long.
