there are many different reasons why someone would turn off their snapchat map and i don't think it has anything to do with you. i just recently turned it off after months of using it since i realized it was rly bad for my battery and idk using my phone is more important to me than my friends knowing im at home. maybe that thought could help you ease your mind?
Yes mby, I could probably ask next time I see them too if smth like that comes up, seems more natural than just texting "hello why did u turn of map" lmao 
in person is def the better option just make a lighthearted comment about idfk missing their bitmoji or some bs like this rather than just straight up texting 'why did u turn of ur location???????' because atleast to me that would seem pretty.... controlling

I don't think I would mind but I feel like most ppl would find it very weird yes
