Yeah, the implications of the Hays Code and all I know about, it still feels a bit weird to me. Though to be fair, maybe that's also just my asexual nature being like: If you can't justify sex for plot reasons, don't make me sit through it. MasileinDE wrote:
I've seen mentions of it in a Youtube video by Mina Lee and it made the movie look just utterly goofie and kind of like a soft porn (well, basically, a Netflix Original from way back when). So not sure how I stand on that, but I think I'm also just biased towards the few chosen excerpts Mina chose to bring a point across
It's really important to remember the social changes happening in the late 60s/early 70s to understand why so many movies felt kinda...porny hahaBarbarella wrote:
I love Soylent Green, I'm always joking about it taking place in 2022 haha.
Zardoz is FUCKING WILD, and lots of folks view it as a goofy film but when you really sit down and analyze it, its incredibly chilling, a very unsettling criticism on humankind. I also watched it on LSD though lol.
also I may be biased, but you definitely gotta add Barbarella (1968 ) to the list lol
Yeah, that's what my dad said too about Zardoz. A wild ride, but not without merrit.I love Soylent Green, I'm always joking about it taking place in 2022 haha.
