i know this is true in the parliamentary election at least but maybe less so in the municipal election? (or the walfare area county elections which finland is having for the first time now.) i'm not sure but that's what i would assume, since they can only decide very local issues and not laws or anything like that. tho obviously you would still vote for the party you agree with but i think the issues the candidates want to work toward might matter more? correct me if i'm wrong though i really don't know all that much about this

oh yeah, with local elections the party doesn't mean that much.
Those often run on 2 or 3 big issues, like more or less factories in the area, what to spend the town's funds on etc.

Are there discussion rounds and stuff? It's a good way to learn about the goals.
