It's not even a slur, it was an official diagnosis until like 4 years ago and those kids want to tell generations of autistic ppl that they can't use the term anymore because the guy after which the diagnosis was named was a bad guy.

Not in the strictest sense but he didn't oppose the line of the party either and his work with disabled ppl lead to horrible consequences for the 'low functioning' ones.
