Thinking about how I'm in the same generation as a 10yo kid?
Feels just wrong, my experience growing up is so different than someone who is like 13 today and grew up wth smartphones being a thing as long as they can remember.
to be fair smart phones have been a part of the majority of my life, some people in my year got the first iphone that was released in norway and that was in 2008 or so
growing up was wild bc we had to buy flash drives for our first year of computer science class that had 0.5 GB and cost 15€ but by the end of high school you could get memory cards with 60GB for the same price.

97 here so apparently a zoomer lmao
as a kid i really engaged with a lot of stuff, on the TV i watched what my parents did so stuff like only fools and horses and seinfeld and all those 80s/90s family sitcoms ranging from full house, fresh prince of bel air to malcolm in the middle which was newer. i also liked spongebob but i mostly watched cartoon network, ah and teen titans. when i was around 12 i really got into southpark. online i would mostly browse funnyjunk. i think malcolm in the middle is the thing i found consistently most funny out of everything i listed here, it speaks to me the most.

I'd say flash video is a more millenial thing

Like yeah YouTube really shaped my middle school identity but right before it launched I loved ebaumsworld, albinoblacksheep and newgrounds

That's the true millenial vs gen z marker imo
not sure if i can agree because i spent hours of my time watching .swf videos on sites like dagobah and albinoblacksheep, and i know many people that are even a tad younger than me that spent hours upon hours on newgrounds

I mean I watched a ton of cartoons and other shows on nickelodeon, cartoon network, disney channel etc. But idk if I'd say any specific thing that formed my humor? I guess I'd describe my humour as very sarcastic and self-deprecating, but idk if that was influenced by family or the internet.

books (we frequently visited the library) and comics. i don't really recall using internet as a child though we had it? this book series was my everything and i copied the mc's writing style in my own diary 😭😭 comics like calvin and hobbes were also a huge thing and nemi def influenced my style. internet and esp tumblr influenced me a lot in my teens

looney tunes was probably the stuff i found funny as a kid, and youtube. i developed a sense of humor in my tweens, early youtube xD so random stuff and later tumblr and the finnish equivalent of 4chan.
