i read up a lil bit about the bike locks u could get so i got one that seemed to be slightly better than the usual ones at least, but it's a bit heavy sadly.... my last bike was stolen 2 years ago so i'm pretty mad about it and don't want anyone to steal my new one even if it's a bike from the 70s literally woqpkdwqpo

anyway this lock should be good !
my last bike was stolen 2 meters from my front door (when i was inside lmao) n it seems they cleaned out the whole yard's bikes lmao)  i bought it new w my own money and had it for like 5 months <\3
current building has a bike storage at least so im feeling more positive about it

that is soo annoying !! that feeling of getting something taken from you sucks so hard
mine was taken from outside of my student apartment when i was on christmas break at my parents for 3 weeks, was so annoyed...... that i didn't get a new one until now lol ugh (and i had just oiled the chain and all that, motherfuckers) and ALSO my seat had already been stolen 1 year before that, like, pls leave my bike the fuck alone !!

aah yes a bike storage sounds very promising !! i don't have that but the bikes are behind the building at least so i don't think people accidently walk by so that helps a bit i hope

thinking this too, bc i really want to get a electric bike in the future but i'm scared someone will just walk away with it or like as you said, tsake a wheel or something 
it's not common in public places but if u dont have a reliable place to store it for longer periods, it's definitely smth to think about
my roommate's bike got vandalized, someone threw paint at it and stole one of the pedals when it was locked outside
