so you're looking for like, a natural-fiber equivalent?
if it exists, but Norway does not really have a large selection of things so I don't expect to find it.
I think natural fibre yarn is one of those things that Norway does have a large selection of lmao
this ^

check out hobbii.no, garnius.no, strikkemekka.no and panduro, they have a pretty good selection
maybe something like this? or this?

if you look at the catalog of brands you know are sold where you live, and they have something you like, some stores are willing to add it to their next shipment for you.
Because it doesn't really cost them anything extra, especially if you offer to pre-pay.

Btw I think it's called chenille yarn
you're totally right
I'd only ever heard of chenille embroidery before, but yes this seems to be the right name

Sometimes I will thrift sweaters with yarn I like and unravel them to use the yarn for something else.
Don't go into that blindly though, it doesn't work for a lot of fast-fashion knits with serged seams, but I can show you how to tell the difference if that's something you're interested in.
Same, I'm unraveling a 45% angora, 45% lambswool. 15% nylon sweater I thrifted for like, 100 shekels. It's expensive for a thrifted sweater but cheap as hell for that quantity of luxury fibre, highly recommend.
oh wow I did a currency conversion on that, and that's almost what new sweaters cost here (though yes your fiber content is much better)

what do thrifted things usually cost there?

if it makes you feel any better, I actually prefer synthetic, or blended fibers, because they last longer.
All the clothing I have that has "worn down" to nothing over the years has been 100% natural.
I definitely understand the desire for natural materials, but there are environmental benefits to synthetic blends
it's about how you buy, wear, and treat your textiles, rather than what those textiles are.
being environmentally conscious is just that - being conscious, being aware, being intentional.

I use lots of synthetics, but I also use them forever

I don't feel like a plushie for fun needs to be synthetic

Sweaters would be around 30-60 shekels normally, depending on how cute they are pretty much. Thrifting here is expensive but not that expensive, they knew approximately what they had with that angora, it was in the nice stuff section and everything.
