Yeah, as a non-Norwegian, nynorsk is definitely the fancy version, while bokmål is literally just Danish with ugly spelling...
Yeahh, nynorsk gets closer and closer to bokmål too, for certain words and spellings (makes sense as the ppls dialects evolve tho) but theres some key differences that makes it feel different for me

i kind of like the flow of it, but i was told in school that nynorsk was very important because legal and official documents have to be written in both nynorsk and bokmål? so i was under the impression that it was extremely important to learn and that i would have great use for it. i did not, and it just pulled my grade down smh 
I think its a rule that the state has to write the same written language back to you if you send them a letter (so if you send nynorsk,they have to answer in nynorsk) but they don't uphold that I think. And the state news channel (??) (Nrk) has to have a certain percentage of subtitles in nynorsk I think, but that's just annoying to me if the ppl talking aren't even close to nynorsk

I think mby the ppl in the state decide not to answer in ny orskcus they don't know nynorsk at all cus they are from oslo or around there, so it makes sense they would rather write in the written way they are comfortable in. Annoying when they do it when they tbh can't tho, but for me it doesn't matter
