like last time my brother needed something from his room and he called home to ask someone of us to get it and wait outside so he could just drive by instead of having to get out, undress his shoes, go up the stairs to get it and drive off again
and he just called the landline, because if someone was home, they could do it and if no one was, then he had to do it himself either way
if we didn't have a landline, he'd have had to call either of my parents or me and neither my mum nor I were at home, so even if he called us on our cell, we wouldn't have been able to say if my dad was hoem or not. he'd have had to call the whole roster and hope he calls the right person first

It doesn't, my parents especially my dad are complicated with phones.

I'm 27, but my parents are 58 and 65 but they act like 70 around cell phones :d
none of them even have mobile data, they have a card where they pay for sms and calls separately, so if they don't call someone or wite a message a month, they pay nothing for their phone
(which should tell you how much they use their cell phones)
which I believe if people say that's very unusual and not how most do it these days
but it's the only way I know it, so the fact that many don't even have a landline anymore confuses me about the same as having a landline confuses all the young kids :d
