Tarot cards are really more like a tool for introspection than something that 'tells you the future'.  Someone helps you understand where you are, where you've been, and where you want to go by using the cards to explain things and perhaps shed light on things you might struggle to understand yourself.  In that way, it's not that different from how journaling your feelings helps you understand them.

Yes, they can be used as religious tools for those  that use them that way, and they can be used to commune with spirits-- there is an aspect of mysticism to it in that way, but it's honestly a skill that *anyone can learn*, but that some people are sort of latently talented in.

It's simultaneously about listening to your intuition and knowing what the cards are saying, and then interpreting them in a way that's useful and helpful to your client.  It's not to say that they aren't magic or special in their own way, but a lot of the time people think of them as something they're not.

If anyone would like a reading done or has any questions about it, feel free hit me up.  I've been doing readings casually for 10 years and professionally for 6.  I love to educate people on the topic.   :)

darling rot said it very well but yes i am hm very into SASS witchcraft (skeptical, agnostic, science seeking witchcraft) and tarot as an aspect of that, it is not so much about divination for me as a tool for introspection like darlingrot said ^^ But also for me sort of like uuh placebo divination, if i see something in a reading that i take to heart it might be more likely to happen because i am more aware of it and more likely to take steps towards it, unknowlingly or not. I have two decks, but im not very god at reading the cards because im not great at memorizing the meanings. My favourite card is death. Death is a very trans card

It's not really recommended that you perform readings for yourself unless you're willing and able to look at what you're shown objectively and be prepared for it to hurt.  I don't read for myself without external validation on what I see for exactly that reason.  I'm sorry that happened though, but it's a good idea to start just by doing research, start with a couple friends, and if you know anyone who reads, partner up with them.  :)

Yeah, this exactly.  Awareness is the first step toward any path and using them as means to understand yourself, your desires, and help guide others toward what they want but giving them the power to make it happen.  Speaking it into reality, as it were.
