This has been my experience with the books so for, I like the world building and the nostalgia factor but I also get so fkn annoyed sometimes, if I read it with eyes I would have probably dropped it by now but my standards for audio is lower so im gonna keep powering thru with onyx storm as well once it’s available for me
I'M LITERALLY WAITING FOR THE AUDIOBOOK
Its got the lord of the rings effect right. The "who's that?"
And rhe character chart at the beginning only introduces us to characters weve met before that book. Cool great if you read iron flame when it came out
But,
The writing is just... so bad?
Nothing is planned out, the pacing is atrocious. The plot twists feel like taffy. Stretched out and too much to digest in a short time
yeah it very much suffers from trash romance novel syndrome but bc its in such a fantasy/worldbuilding and plot heavy setting it just kinda clashes, cos i usually like trash romance but that kinda writing style isnt enough to like hold up the plot and make it make sense
+ way too much time dedicated to boinking when i'd rather learn more about side characters or literally anything else e_e but i love dragon training school and revolution against corrupt govt plot so i shall persist,, glad to hear im not the only one feeling very ??? about it tho cos i looked at some reviews that were all like omg 5 stars this rules n im there like... why is this fantasy woman using modern tik tok slang
The politics world building is second to the trash romance, which is what sells. And a lot of those 5 star readers have never read warrior cats and it shows
