something really weird I've seen lately is the claim that the raised fist is a symbol exclusive to the black power movement. (americans don't know anything about history it seems, it began to be a symbol for black power in the 60s in the US, long before that it was a Marxist symbol and a symbol of solidarity in large parts of the world)

and another weird discourse I've seen is that people who like villiains are problematic (TM) and writers shouldn't let their characters say mean things

The outrage is so performative it's almost insulting, and the implicit insistence that only pure, happy media and characters can be enjoyed is actually seriously scary and deeply reminiscent of some of the rhetoric some Bible thumpers I know shoot around in a fandom hat. Fucking tumblr man.
