Without education, which teachers provide you, none of us would be qualified for work today if that criteria still stood in a world without teachers. Anyways, teachers and school do teach you more than facts. You're also taught discipline, dedication, ethics\morals, skills etc. What's taught in a classroom every day has importance for the future of our society since you basically are raising the future. You're also taught things like reading and math so you can learn other things later that will make you more of a contribution to society.
Some can also be pretty crucial for your personal life.
I agree, this is especially the case for primary school teachers. Younger children are so impressionable, and spending 5 days a week with the same adult is going to shape and mould these children. They can also have such a lasting impression on children who don't have any other positive role models in their lives.
I think it counts for most schools, but maybe not so much like university\studies b\c I don't think you get as close to the teachers as you would in high school and below, but like any person you spend several hours with in a week will influence you and if they're an authority person you may either look up to them and at least like them or you won't. some just don't go together, but if you have a kind teacher I think most will like that person
