Berlin isn't the most beautoful german city (imo), but it's nice
also, you can get along a lot with english, especially if you really are dedicated to learn German as well during your time there

most germans speak english quite well
but yes, id advise to learn german (its an advantage esp for the flat search)

to be fair, many have the most thickest accent ever, but they still understand it very well and get their point across which I think should be enough

Also, go to a language course. I've been living here for soon to be 2 years and I still can't speak proper German because I'm a lazy fucker. Every non-German person with good German has been to one (or most likely multiple)

this!
also, don't be afraid to talk to others even though your german isn't good yet
especially when saying you try to learn the language, most would probably be considerate and help you out a little bit, so it's a learning experience as well

Nooo it's not the accent, it's the bad/weird grammar

ok, but to be fair, is you grammar in your second language any better? young germans are kind of fluent in english (maybe some educational levels taken out of this equation), so it's mostly the older ones
but that's an issue you can find in nearly every country in the world

Not saying that Germans are the only ones with bad/broken English or that all Germans are bad at it, but where I live, even the younger ones literally text me like this:

"I don't can say ist know"
"Tomorrow we talking"
