Henna + Cultural Appropriation
Saudade

I wanna make an informative post about henna and why I think it's CA. :-)
I was wondering, what would you guys like to know about it?
Also if there are any people on here part of the Arab or Indian, what are your opinions on people using it who aren't part of the cultures that use it? Although IDK if there even are m/any Arab or Indian people here. o-0

I think its kinda weird for white ppl to use (im white btw) but we have a yearly culture festival in my town where some women do it for children etc which I think is fine (they r arab/indian/whoever uses it)

That's sweet! I would call that culture appreciation which is totally awesome and fine by me !

Me and a friend got a henna hello kitty tattoo when we were 13 in croatia at a carnival
it lasted for 3 months

idk, i don't feel like contributing to the ethical/moral side of this conversation rn.

i don't care what other ppl do with their own bodies as long as they're not hurting ppl

BTW I'm not going to slander anyone who has done it in the past and that, I just want to make a post on my instagram to tell people what henna means to me and why it bothers me when it's done by people without knowing the cultural meaning, and ofc I can only speak on the meaning of it to me as an Algerian!

Also is this like differentiated, the cultural appropriation thing, between like typical cultural designs and just random stuff like the hello kitty one or is it the same for u

That didn't answer my question but yeah! I'm just asking for people who are part of cultures that use it what they think of it, just to expand the opinions in the post I'll make. :-)

as an indian i don't see why white people getting henna is cultural appropriation? i know it's deeply rooted in indian culture (and other middle eastern and african cultures as well) but it's also a cool way to get temp tattoos and if ur having fun with it i don't mind
