inline skates/figure skates

does anyone here have any experience when it comes to using inlines to simulate figure skating on ice, ive really been wanting to get good at ice skating for a while but ive never gotten the chance to do it because i dont live near any ice rinks, so someone came up with the idea of practicing on inline skates instead, from what ive understood there are some major differences between inlines and figure skates, but i cant think of anything else that could be comparable to figure skates

to give this thread more meaning in case there is not a single person on vp who uses inlines for figure skating, uhhh, anyone got advice for inline skating or ice skating

huh idk, they both seem very different to me    like sure they r the same concept ish and u can learn balance through inline skates first but all the tricks require u to have a very small turn circle i think?? and thats only really achievable through the thin blade ice skates have
im no expert tho so maybe im wrong  i just am good at doing basic stuff on both and idk inline skates r way more clunky for me

you rarely see people on inlines doing the same stuff as people on ice skates
most skate artists use roller blades (like, the car wheel formation)
might be because the wheels on inline skates are a bunch broader and you don't have the same slip as athin piece of metal has on ice
especially as the wheels are made of rubber and meant to have grip
but that's kind of an uninformed thought process, I'm just trying to go from a physics standpoint

I also did a quick google search and most people actually do recommend the roller skates, as it comes closer than inlines
you'd only use inline skates for ice hockey practice because of the "running" and such
but for high mobility you use roller blades

you could probably do similar tricks in roller skates but i dont feel like it uses the same mechanic, the reason why i want to use inlines isnt to do the tricks its more to learn the basic mechanic of ice skating, like the balance on thin wheels and whatever, i dont feel like you get that experience with roller skates even if thats what people use for dancing or whatever they do

i started out on roller blades and u do learn the balance stuff earlier on ice afterwards, especially easy stuff like balancing on one leg and stuff, roller blades r just usually heavier so watch out for thag

I doubt you'll ever be able to mimick that on not ice
maybe if you have a roller rink nearby? they have a waxed wooden floor that's very slippery, so it comes closest to ice, but I think you can't wear inlines there
like, if you just want to improve balance, sure, but being able to go on the ice and then just be amazing and not struggle the first minutes... probably not going to happen
