nah man, makes you feel like shit and there are literally 0 benefits. you might lose a bit of weight, but if you're that desperate to lose a pound or two (and it can't be achieved through normal diet and exercise) then maybe you should start thinking about why that is before it gets super serious.

i seriously do not recommend.

I'd advise against it
it really is bad for your health and if it's meant as a losing wieght method, it usually backfires, because you get quite hungry

I wouldn’t recommend doing it for too long obviously like a day long as cleansing max
But definitely no as a diet or anything

it doesn't even "cleanse" that's a common misconception

your body already has a cleansing mechanism. if anybody tells you anything about a cleanse (i.e. juice cleanse etc) remind yourself you have a liver.

Don't do that, you can feel lousy the next day and it can lead to binges.

Do smoothie fasting / eat blended food if you wanna have similar results (e.g cleansing, weight loss, whatever).

I have never heard someone doing water fast without first making their body be ready for the fast if they don't have eating disorder

no, that's wrong
most of the claims people say it has are actually old wive's tales
first of, you can't do any cleansing or detoxing
there are some who say it helps "cleanse" the bowels, but that's not true. to really empty your bowels you'd have to take a laxative, but that's something for medical reasons only and only if your doctor tell you so
also, short term weight loss is not real, because our weight actually fluctuates trhoughout the week and even day anyways, so it's not really reliable

not necessarily, I just read a lot about it after I had to lose 10kg because of my health and that dumb idiot of a dietician I was seeing was telling me that I was a lying teenager, like all teenagers are and that if I said I wouldn't drink alcool, it meant I was sneaking out of the house to get some...

The main issue if you're actually overeating (eating more than your body needs) is the overabundance of food. You have to find a way to either eat less food or work it off. For me it was mostly eating a bit less. The first three weeks I did feel restless, but not hungry. I realised that I am a stress eater and would always eat something when I got nervous. So I tried to find a different way to work off the stress, For me it was just taking small walk. I also ate at regulated hours, so no eating in between (I was big on snacking). If I ever felt snacky, I'd eat something with a high water count. Like an apple or a few sticks of cucumber. It helps fill the stomach and give it something to work, but it's not that much. Though don't go the model road where you start eating empty calories all day, that's not worth it. As for the movement part, I never really started working out (even though I definitely should). But I often took the stairs instead of the escalator or walked for every distance of two or less subway stations. When I was feeling peckish, I often started with drinking a sip of water. More often than not, you are thirsty or maybe even bored. And especially in the beginning, you feel like something is missing, because you're used to eating very frequently. You need to break that habit. Not the best but definitely best working method is by finding a substitute for the eating. You either decide that that's the point to stand up and go for a small walk or you do the washing up. Something kind of manual that helps you being distracted. If you still feel hungry after that and it's not meal time, you can try a snack like an apple or such.
Of course, there are many other ways to help with this. Especially if the added difficulty of a depression weighs in, it would maybe be a good idea to really get a specialist's advice and not just some rando from the net. :d I can only tell what worked in my experience, but it was a mostly slow process for me when it came to the weight loss. The first 5kg were gone in about two months, it then took me half a year to lose the rest. But if it's just to cut out the unnecessary overeating, you can start by just reducing portions and times you eat. Find your way of what works best for you. If you add in exercice, be mindfull of still eating enough to be healthy and have the energy. It also helps a bit more if you exercice, but if it just comes from eating to much, you can actually change a lot by just starting to change your food habits.
