(tw) religion and does it exist

if religion does exist and is predetermined in the way of 'god gave my best friend terminal cancer' but i chose to take my life instead so she could continue to be.
That's a bit crazy isn't.

Please reply. Even if it is not good. I don't think I can explain how fucked my situation is rn.

youre asking if god or whatever exists or if religions are based in any truth but religion is a thing that exists

yes, i am asking if god exists and whether what i am pleading for is ridiculous.

i don't think they can. my friend is seriously the best person ever. i aspire to be like her.

if God truly did exist, he'd take my stupid existence and let her live, right?

sorry, too emotional to explain myself properly, probably.

What i think i mean is, (of course religion exists), but a lot of strains of particular religion (such as christianity and church of England) rely on 'if you did bad, then expect to perish in hell' kind of thinking. And it does seem to be 'an eye for an eye based'.

My friend has irreversible ovarian cancer. I love her more than words can explain. She is one of those people who are more beautiful and fantastic than words could explain.

I think I'm asking a theoretical question of whether if God did exist, whether in that case, he would bargain. My life is surely worth less than hers - therefore, why her?

Most religions (if not all of them) are based on some kind of supernatural being or event, and I don't believe any of that stuff to be true, that's why I don't believe in any religion, does that make sense?

Like, my friend has (and has always' without specific degrees and such) volunteered to look after elderly and vulnerable people in our community. And I know for a fact, she thinks about it on a daily basis; all her daily actions are based on how to help someone.

I've always been agnostic. Like something like this would make my mind up, yknow?  Not in a bad way, just in a way of...I can't accept this.

This is a process most if not all people go through and for you it's heightened by a serious situation + emotion.
I'm an atheist, there is no evidence of there being a god (or gods). I'd change my mind if I saw evidence, but I don't think that will ever happen tbh.
Though in the end it's your own journey to go through and whether you believe in a god, stay agnostic, or turn atheist is up to you.

Yes God is real, but faith is a choice and shouldn’t be conditional

Alsoo bad things happen to good people because that’s how free will works

I'm not trying to cause an argument here, but why should it not be conditional?

@Focalin Thank you for the support xx

why would your life be worth less than hers to god? bargaining is a part of the grieving process, so do what makes you feel better.  there have been cases where terminal cancer patients got better. bargaining did work in some cases in the bible so it's possible but usually it's encouraged that your faith isn't conditional, as in you only have faith when you get what you want.

ofc <3
Also, going off of what you last said: "I've always been agnostic. Like something like this would make my mind up, yknow?  Not in a bad way, just in a way of...I can't accept this. "
I wouldn't recommend that being a determining factor, you're in the process of grieving rn like Dracarys said.
If religion is a journey you're to go on it's best for that not to be based on grief.
Your friend could also still have a chance and I really hope that she gets through it.

If any single person was to live their life more similarly to the bible in modern life, it would probably be my friend.
My friend does not have 'a chance', while it is v nice for you to exude positivity for her (thank you so much for that x)

Thank you. Obviously any previous faith I had, i think has been shaken given the current circumstances.
But I will always listen to science before God, and if her doctors don't think it is plausible, then I have to start asking questions y'know.

@Juniper  Same question to you - if God truly did exist and you were good by his rules; why would bad things happen to good people?
