most of my high school teachers studied english in england, so they all had that accent because they lived there for over 4 years
but to be fair, most people in my class all had an american accent (which btw, what accent do you want people to really have??)

here it is mostly the ppl that end up studying english that use that accent (it's funny cus one of my friends is british and we were watching a livestream of the candi board announcement of the english study and she couldnt stand it)

and some ppl do in hs but end up switching anyway because at least i do shame ppl for it bc they never make it sound legit

this will probably offend offende a lot of people but i think brittish accent is very unattractive. i think it's enough that english people have brittish accents

oh, and we used to have this rule in school in writing: we were allowed to choose british or american english writing, but we had to stick to it the whole year and would actually lose points for changing the "language" in tests

I kinda get that though
like, I come from a country where we basically all have to speak french and none of us speak it without an accent an we all sound like french canadians (which is so weird, but well) and I despise the way french-canadians speak French, it sounds just so wrong to me
but who am I to judge if people like talking like this, I could just not listen

also, what kind of british do you think? all british, or the regional differences or the classicist differences?

yea afaik most european high schools are taught british english ; i think it rly depends also on how exposed they are to american (or non-british) english media while they are learning

idk i dont like british english but also most europeans ive spoken w (tbf my country speaks rly good english) havent rly had a noticeably british accent idk

i have absolutely no idea what I learned, ppl never specified it but I assume I'm writing more American than British but it's probably a mix

we are taught that??? + most grown out of it after middle school and then adopts some middle ground + it comes down to what media you consume.

My teacher said american english is not english, we failed the subject if we spoke anything that wasn't British. I prefer to speak american english though, lot more comfortable to speak
