To be fair, by experience, it can lower your anxiety but I believe it goes into the same categories as any training (releases dopamine that eat up ur stress and i guess makes u gladere ) and well deep breathing which again is a technique commonly applied to calm anxiety attacks, etc. So from that perspective, the basis is there but it's obviously also the dimension of choice and belief in it, amount, type and like most or any exercise could substitute it. Just let it be on you like. Use it as a tool when you need it. Etc. It also has the whole working with yoir mind dimension which can be benefitial as well. Like to turn from selfhatred to self love, denial to acceptance ++ that can help calm and challenge some of your negative thoughts etc
I think its more like if u r open for it it may be worth a try and i u r not ull just be doing something else
