like why do we have always have to point out the race of black and white.

its making me a little bit sad if i think about it, ye i can see why in certain situations if youre gonna describe someones appearance  but if i was dating a black male, why is it so important for people to point out black male why not just male.. like if im dating a blonde male i dont really point that out?

u get me? or am i really stupid rn

idk depends on context
some ppl only bring up this "uugghh why are you playing the race card" thing exclusively when issues that specifically black ppl face are discussed n obviously thats different
otherwise i guess i agree

Omg i totally get what u mean. Its so weird to me when ppl just casually say ”and then this black guy came in and..” when the race of the person has literally nothing to do with it and adds absolutely zero context to anything and u just know that if it was a white person they would just say ”this guy came in”, u know what i mean? Like why do some ppl feel the need to ALWAYS point out the race of the person everytime its not a white person when its totally irrelevant

^ yea i . this

also lbr in the western world it's much more common for people to note the person's race when they're not white. it's much more often ( at least in my experience ) that u hear people saying "oh this black / turkish / mexican / allochtoon / etc. guy came up to me..." but if it's a white guy they'll just say "oh this guy came up to me..."

like it's a very subconscious reflection of the way in which our societies consider whiteness the default and and any other race / ethnicity as "other" or "different" and therefore needing to be pointed out & distinguished
