Playlist?: Smooth (Santana ft. Rob Thomas), Lady (Modjo), Be With You (Enrique Iglesias), Bye Bye Bye (*NSYNC) (and more!)
Theme: young, forbidden love.
The aesthetics of the early 00s, ungodly bleached hair, denim? possibly.
You know the story, young slightly attractive individual notices young slightly more attractive individual in an absurdly focused scene, the audience are introduced to them. It is immediately obvious to everyone with eyes, ears and hopefully a brain that this, this is the couple(tm). The audience know that the love is supposed to be forbidden, hidden, possibly even dangerous?? but still they are naïve enough to sit through the entire emotional 2 hours, admiring the early 00s aesthetics - the nearly pre-historic phones, the tacky bling, everything - for what? At least one of the characters get their heart brutally broken. It is time for tears. The movie ends on a sad note.
It's a movie about homosexuals. Happy endings do not exist.
Now, that's how romantic movies are going to be like in about 10-15 years.
A bunch of kids thinking it was the shit, so romantic, so fantastic, so innocent.
Tragic.
