that's actually the issue
like, there's both sides to this argument
you shouldn't perpetuate the racist visions of the times back then (and let's face it, for many still today) without there being an open discussion about why it is an issue
but on the other hand, don't go acting like it never happened
also, to really help counteract that, for everything in a modern setting, do go the route of actively looking for "diverse" leads with a proper story and good back line (like also here forced diversity will just flop and make you look like an utter idiot who wasn't even able to push a political agenda that people so much like to talk about today)
like, work with what is still around today and deliver it as candid as you can - market diversity for everyone

well to be fair, that is an issue too, though as someone super uninformed, seeing skin colour is easier than pinpointing out costume mistakes because of the wrong cut or stitch method
so, yeah, it's a valid point, if you want to be historically accurate, don't just fight about the racial issue
but considering the political climate and how most people have no idea what they are talking about, it makes sense that this is the most "easy to converse upon controversial topic" when it comes to historical movies for people who don't know much stuff
