edit bc y'all rly wanna talk abt things i am not even talking about:

what i'm trying to say is that it's upsetting to me that people around me seem super happy ? amused ? delighted ? by the political developments in the US. its not ridiculing and its not critical at all, its enjoyment. that is really upsetting to me bc it feels like none of them r considering the ways in which so many americans are unsafe because of it. bc i know europeans who will have a lil giggle abt the american covid death toll bc "haha look what a disaster america is" and dont seem to realize that people are literally dying and going to continue to die ? idk tho maybe i'm just a crazy self-centered american who doesnt understand shit lmfao

EUROPEANS PLS STOP TREATING MY COUNTRY'S POLITICS LIKE A SPECTATOR SPORT OR A SOAP OPERA OR A DISASTER OF A REALITY SHOW THAT U SPECULATE ON FOR SHITS AND GIGGLES LIKE A FUCKIN AMATEUR DISC GOLF FAN U INSENSITIVE SHITS GOD PPL AER FUKCING DYING KIM PLS . AND U GENUINELY DO NOT KNOW ENOUGH ABT SHIT TO SAY SHIT SO SHUT UP

my european family gc is just

"trump has corona lol"
"maybe fakenews because of the election?"

etc.etc.etc. and its like the same family members that . whenever we get together for family thigns will ask me about my opinion on american politics but like. not listen at all. its just an excuse for them to tell me what they think and give me their shitty uninformed takes ? and like ? its just so incredibly condescending and pathetic its like u really do not know enough abt any of this ? literally none of it ? u stupid shit ? u think saying "fake news bc election" makes u sound smart bc ur so fuckign above it all ? u got ur critical thinking hat on ? is that it ? when u dont know shit and u dont wanna know shit ? just like make it make sense ?

just the sheer glee and enjoyment they're getting out of talking abt america like they know shit, nd feeling so goddamn good abt themselves for it, is so infuriating like. idk it just feels so incredibly insensitive at a time where i and many americans feel like we're literally grievng for our country nd things are going so poorly nd like. there is so much insecurity n danger for so many americans ? and u are what ? havign a laugh ? a fucking giggle ?

and ALSO ! "fakenews bc election" means nothing ? like itsn ot an intelligent take or even a take at all ? also using the concept of fakenews as a legitimate concept instead of as a fucking JOKE ? like. trump is not promoting his own contraction of covid bc it undermines him like hell. mainstream media is not making it up bc the white house literally issued a statement. saying stupid shit like that is just so fcking tacky and ignorant and makes u look braindead idk maybe just shut the fuck up

idk rant over sorry im just mad my fam treats this shit like a joke and uses me to have an audience who will ~hopefully~ justify / validate / admire / etc. their shitty, super underinformed takes

idek i dont think any of y'all probably even understand why this is so upsetting but like. idk i've been treated as an outsider nd a novelty within my own family nd am so often used like a fucking show n tell object and not ever listened to, they literally laugh at any political opinion i have bc i'm american and therefore i just dont understand how thigns really work or are supposed to work.

and like the things that r happening right now in the US are super fucking scary and have real impacts on real people nd while i've been freaking out abt the future of my country nd the fact that it literally might not b safe for me to go back after school, they're out here having a laugh, being super ignorant just for shits n giggles and idk its . hurtful af tbh

oh the backside of being the most prominent, visible, and loud country in the world.

Does anyone know what happens in Liechtenstein? Nope.

But honestly, Europeans are overall more informed about what is going on in the United States to a much deeper degree than what can be said the other way around, especially if you ignore countries like: Russia, France, Germany, UK, and perhaps Italy. Italy is stretching it rather far like except for the utter chaos who the fuck knows what's up.
Internet is so incredibly United States of American biased that the medias, at least in Norway, focus more on United States of American politics, United States of American elections.. legit, than our own elections. Despite the elections in Norway and the US never being in the same year or anything.
Anyway back to syllable structures.

I think Europe does get a lot of info about America and so we are like "educated" but we get info from the news here which gives a very different view on it

i know europe pays too goddamn much attention to america, but like i was saying in my original post its not like. thoughtful critical attention informed by genuine engagement with america. its sensationalist news tht feeds into european superiority complexes idk like. the media image of america in europe is just like wildly different from about 99% of my experiences actually living there. europe may pay more attention to america but that doesnt mean europeans are actually that informed abt anything going on w america. especially random europeans who dont spend a lot of energy learning but just wanna play armchair pundit

im not saying americans arent super ignorant abt stuff that happens in the rest of the world, i just think its tacky for uninformed europeans to make sweeping claims abt the state of american democracy etc. and it comes off as super insensitive when they seem to be genuinely enjoying the suffering of millions of people just bc it makes them feel better abt their own country / leadership / etc idk

There is no room for emotions in political discussion, it's contra-productive.

lmao this is what i mean. like to be completely clear i recognize that europeans receive more information about america than vice versa. but like. that information will still NEVER measure up to the lived experiences of actual americans, and most europeans ive encountered r really very happy to tell me why their takes r the correct ones, try to question anything i say abt my own experiences growing up there nd like ?

the idea that just bc u watch a lot of american tv and get a lot of news from america and consume media from and about america that automatically means u actually understand america is just like false nd rly hubristic lol

I'm sorry but I'm not agreeing with the idea of "you can't talk about anything unless you have first-hand experience about what you are talking about".

it's not only america's politics that get ridiculed anyways, there's plenty of other countries with equally as pathetic politicians and the population doesn't hesitate to make fun of them

but yes perhaps america is a victim of bullying, sad cry tragique moment
