and the older ive gotten she has somehow gotten even less present than she already was and i didnt even know it was possible

True, but it's good to know you're fortunate in comparison 

However I think we both have shitty relationships with our family members in this context, just in different ways 
i dont think anyone is fortunate if theyre unhappy even if their life situation might be percieved as positive by another person
