goal? to become 2020's version of Buddha.

set rules to myself (thinking to try it out for a few days);
- positive attitude
- do not engage or react on negative feelings, as if it's not there
- do not complain about anything during this experiment
- smile often
- write down things that im happy about (even if it's untrue)

Anyone tried to pretend to be happy or content even tho you go trough a bad time? Did it help?
Considering trying to pretend to be content.

That doesn't sound healthy at all. However, according to a study, a gratitude diary or writing down three positive things about each day (as long as you're actually grateful for/feel positive about those things) will boost your happiness. I also found Woebot highly beneficial while I was still depressed

I don't know, it may be healthy if it actually works. It's temporary experiment.
But hey, what's that Woebot? Is it an app or something you can use on laptop?

Hmmm may be a great experiment for a few weeks just to test the waters, but even a positive person will find things to complain about you know cx

Hope u manage! Will be fun to see :3

Pls, take care. This can easily fire back at you. I think it's more important to be okay with feeling your feelings and work through them and gain tools to deal with them, but it's your experiment so good luck!

ive used woebot before, it's an app you can use on your phone which basically lets you rant to a robot, and it has certain trigger words that advises you to seek help if youre in any danger, other than that it goes through strategies to cope with your stress

i'm not sure if this is exactly the best way to go about this honestly, to me it seems like youre trying to downplay your other emotions that arent happiness, its okay to feel sad and annoyed and not the best, it's normal to, however its your experiment so its for you to test out i just hope youre gonna be okay is all

my friend tried doing that happiness thing for a week and it helped him subtly, but it didnt work out because he had other problems that conflicted his situation. i guess it depends on where you are at life rn, how many problems u have etc etc

it's been half year with grief, rejections after rejections (in many aspects), sad and bad thoughts which I allowed and accepted to feel. But when you seem stuck in that pattern it's better to do something about it. Taking it 360 degrees and trying this out won't harm more i think, so it's interesting to see what result it may give!

Checked it out and already tried it. I like the CBT aspect.
